The Position

The Instructional Assistant class is distinguished from the Instructional Aide class or the Instructional Lab Technician class in that positions assigned to the class of Instructional Assistant provide instructional assistance to students and instructors in an instructional environment.

Major Responsibilities

FUNCTION:
Incumbents operate more independently than Instructional Aides and perform a wider variety of technical and clerical duties, Experience with computers is preferable.

Qualifications

REQUISITE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE AND ABILITIES INCLUDE
Any combination of training and experience equivalent to: at least three months of successful work or volunteer experience where the primary focus of the job was to assist or support a supervisor in a functional area, or provide guidance, or customer service to individuals. Basic instructional methods and techniques, oral and written communications skills; operation and uses of microcomputers and peripherals used in college environment, general needs and behavior of students of various ethnic, racial and cultural backgrounds; record-keeping techniques; technical aspects of field of specialty.
